The Deal
A standard 52-card deck is used. All 52 cards are dealt equally — each of the four players receives exactly 13 cards per round. Cards are dealt one at a time, clockwise, until the deck is exhausted.
Making Your Call
After examining their hand, each player declares how many of the 13 tricks they expect to win in the upcoming round. The minimum call is 1 — you cannot pass or call zero. Calls are made in clockwise order starting from the player to the dealer's left.
Playing a Trick
The player to the dealer's left leads the first trick by playing any card. Each subsequent player must follow the led suit if they have it. If they cannot follow suit, they may play a spade (trump) or any other card from their hand.
